Site description:

Land of Legends

Step out of everyday life and travel to the distant past.

Experience the mix of idyllic village life and harsh living conditions with all your senses.

The road to the Iron Age village of Lethra winds between soft hills, and on both sides of the path are the village sheep munching on the wild grass.

The Land of Legends displays the crossroads between the Iron Age and the Viking era.
At the "Land of Legends",  our guide tells the story of the origin of the Vikings, their society, and beliefs, and ends the tour in front of the incredible Viking Kings Hall.
Hereafter, there is time to explore the site and the Kings Hall on your own.

Viking Ship Museum

1000 years ago, the Vikings sailed along the shores of Europe, up rivers and across the open sea throughout the North Atlantic area.

Ships are the essence of the Viking Age. With them, the Scandinavian countries were founded.

The Viking Ship Museum is built around the five original Viking ships from Skuldelev. They are part of a global story about ships, people, and
things on voyages.

Our guide will take you on a tour through the vibrant atmosphere at the Viking Ship Museum, with shipbuilding techniques and other crafts from
the era, and our Guide will show and explain why the Vikings became so successful, and also where the Viking Age ended and what became of the
Vikings.

After the guided tour, you will have time to visit the museum hall and tour the site on your own.

Where will you be guided?

  • The Land of Legends, but not inside the great King's hall.
  • The Viking Ship Museum. But not in the hall of the Viking Ships.
  • In the bus between the sites, our guide will elaborate on Danish and Scandinavian present and past.
  • The guide speaks English only.

Other worth to know information regarding the tour:

  • Info-tainment!, that's what we call it. Not so many facts that you lose yourself in years, Kings, and wars. And not so humorous and fun that it becomes a comedy.
But a gentle mix of facts presented in an easy-going way, with a twinkle in the eye, by our excellent driver and guide.

  • Your driver will be English-speaking and also guide you at the sites.

  • No need for cardio exercise on this day. 8000 steps are reached before the end of the day, and you will have to walk on uneven and sometimes muddy tracks.

  • And with a lot of fresh air and a taste of the Danish weather. So for clothing, do as the Danes say: "There is no bad weather, just the wrong clothing!"

  • Don't wear your Sunday clothing. This can be messy, and your shoes will certainly not thank you for this tour.

  • Lunch is not included. But the Viking Ship Museum has a café, and nearby is a local Danish-style bakery and a local pizzeria.

BE AWARE

  • People
in wheelchairs should not choose this tour. Note that the driver might refuse you on the tour should you, despite our recommendation, choose this tour. In this case, no refund will be granted.

  • Cane and walking frame users are welcome. But they may be outpaced by the group,

  • Please be aware that wet cobblestones and muddy surfaces are extremely slippery; this is especially important
    for users of walking aids.

    and personal items.
