Big Easy - Viking Ship Museum, Cathedral and Palace ALSO for Wheelchair

Go on an interesting tour of Danish and Scandinavian history from a Danish perspective. Packed with insight into Danish history and culture.

This is not a wheelchair exclusive tour. We have both wheelchair users and people with no or minor mobility issues on this tour!

Itinerary of the day:

• You will be guided at the Viking Ship Museum, and there will be around 45 minutes to explore the museum, both indoors and outdoors, on your own.

• There will also be a guided tour at Roskilde Cathedral.

• Hereafter, a drive to Hillerod where there will be time for lunch and 

• In Hillerod, you will have the opportunity to, on your own, see the magnificent Renaissance place of

• Frederiksborg, built in the 1700s by one of the most famous kings of that time, the dual monarchy of Denmark-Norway

• For everybody's information. When wheelchair users join the tour, they will be seated along the center of the bus. Therefore, seat booking these days is somewhat more alternative.

WHEELCHAIR USERS

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

• The ticket includes 1 wheelchair user and a companion who can pull the wheelchair during the visits.

• The vehicle is fitted with a lift and the by-law-required lashing for the wheelchair. 

• The wheelchair users will be seated together with the other traveler, taking up space in the center of the bus with seated travelers on either side.

Ophelia Tours do NOT provide push service for the wheelchair user! (This is for legal and insurance reasons)

• The Viking Ship Museum is accessible for wheelchair users both inside and outside. Access to the boats is not possible, but a drive along the pier is mostly possible.

• Roskilde Cathedral is mostly accessible for a wheelchair user. The side chapels are not accessible, but the cathedral provides headset options for all those who attend, so even if the wheelchair user can´t enter all the side chapels, the guide's audio is available.

• Frederiksborg Palace has a lift, with limited space for a standard non-motorized wheelchair.  Inside Frederiksberg Palace, the palace provides use of the palace's own wheelchair, should your wheelchair not fit the lift.

• It is not recommended for wheelchair users with additional physical needs, such as users of oxygen or individuals with involuntary movement or speech. This is because of the limited space in elevators and also in the vehicle.

• IF you are a wheelchair user of a self-propelled wheelchair, or you have a "sport-wheelchair" and can propel yourself, it is possible to request a single seat, thus half the tour price. BUT be aware the guide and driver can only assist with getting you in and out of the vehicle and latching inside the vehicle.  IN THIS CASE, please write to: [email protected].

Take a day tour out of Copenhagen to spend time at historically interesting sites.

• Our guide will take you through the history of the locations visited in both fact fun fact, and not, without some humor and fun facts.

• The visit to the Viking Ship Museum begins with a 30-minute guided tour, and then you have time to see the museum and the outside exhibition for about 30-45 minutes, depending upon the weather and the season.

• At the Roskilde Cathedral, there will be a 1-hour guided tour, and around 20 minutes on your own.

• Arriving in the town of Hillerod. You will have time (3 hours), on your own and at your own pace, to experience the incredible Renaissance Frederiksborg Palace.

• In the town of Hillerod, you can also have your lunch (you will have around 3 hours in Hillerod from the bus arrival until departure)

• Lunch is not included. But we can assist you in finding lunch at a nice local café with both Danish and international lunch classics. Or if you prefer, a stroll on the local walking street might provide other lunch options. Almost all cafés are wheelchair friendly.

• On the way to Roskilde and later to Hillerod. The guide will elaborate on Danish culture, history, and fact about the Kingdom of Denmark.

Pickup information:

• Pickup is provided from most hotels in the central part of Copenhagen and the cruise terminal. It is included in the fare.

• Pickups are not possible at hotels without parking for the bus, private accommodations, and Airbnb. Or locations around City Hall Square.

• If pickup can not be provided at your accommodation, you will be offered alternatives not far from you.

• Please note that pickup begins up to 45 minutes before the announced tour starts

• Should you not use PayPal, payments can be made easily and quickly using the QR code in the gallery.

• The seat booking is free! But you must include: Your name, date of tour, and seat number, according to the seat plan in the gallery.

• Seats will be distributed on a "first-come, first-served" basis!

WHEELCHAIR USER

• The pickup is made in front of the hotel on the walkway. We can not offer pickup and drop-off in buildings.

Other worth knowing information regarding the tour:

• Infotainment!, That's what we call it. Not so many facts that you lose yourself in years, Kings, and wars. And not so much humor and fun that it becomes a comedy. But a gentle mix of facts presented in an easy-going way, and a twinkle in the eyes of our excellent driver and guide.
• Your driver will be English-speaking and also guide you at both Kronborg Castle and the Viking Ship Museum
• You will not miss out on your daily tour of the fitness center. No need for cardio exercise on this day. 8000 steps are reached before the end of the day, and you will have to walk up spiral staircases in medieval castles, cross cobble-covered streets, and walkways to get to the site.
• And with a lot of fresh air and a taste of the Danish weather. So for clothing, do as the Danes say: "There is no bad weather, just the wrong clothing!

BE AWARE

• People in wheelchairs can book this tour. Users of a walking frame or cane are welcome. Cane/walking frame users, please be aware that wet cobblestones are extremely slippery.
• Entering the Viking Ships or walking on the piers at the Viking Ship Museum is at your own risk. As the surfaces might be slippery, and there, and other materials, the pier and ships are made of my rub on your clothing.
• Please note that the driver might refuse you on the tour should you, despite our recommendation, choose this tour. In this case, no refund will be granted.
• Please be aware that tours with fewer than 6 bookings are most likely to be canceled. (Of course, it's 100% money back in case of cancellation). Alternative dates will often be offered.
• Wheelchair users who are not accompanied and require assistance to move around at the sites push-help. Will be refused, and only a 40% refund will be issued.
